Lollapalooza's first day ends early when storms move in
Chicago's largest music fest, Lollapalooza, got going Thursday in Grant Park before having to shut down early due to thunderstorms.
On Thursday's lineup were Lorde, Wiz Khalifa, Spoon, Muse and Cage the Elephant. But Lorde and Muse were interrupted by the rain as the city began evacuating Grant Park a little after 9 p.m.
Earlier, Liam Gallagher left the stage abruptly after just a few songs, later tweeting a concert he gave earlier this week wrecked his voice.
About 400,000 music fans attended last year's Lollapalooza, which was expanded to four days for its 25th anniversary celebration. Tickets and four-day passes sold out quickly this year.
More than 170 acts will perform on eight stages. Friday's headliners include blink-182 and The Killers, with Tegan and Sara, Foster the People and Ryan Adams also set.
Saturday's big draw is Chance the Rapper, taking the stage at 8:30 p.m. Also playing Saturday are The XX, Alt-J, The Head and the Heart and Northbrook's Kaskade. Lolla wraps up Sunday with Arcade Fire, Justice, The Shins and Big Sean, among others.
